On the mythological side, some persons might say there was a touch of centaur in the whirlwind account of Elijah’s ascension (a flying part-man, part-horse could be configured in this case from the presentation that “chariot of fire, horsemen included, and horses of fire” are made to have an alike fire nature of generation – see 2 Kings 6:17 KJV). On the symbolic side, there could be said to be a touch of the extra-terrestrial in the whirlwind account of Elijah’s ascension, such as ziziths, flying saucers, UFO’s, and aliens. Elisha’s description of Elijah’s celestial departure following the appearance of a chariot of fire and horses of fire* taking Elijah up to heaven by a whirlwind was: “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof” (compare 2 Kings 2:9-12 KJV and Nahum 2:3-4 KJV).
[Note: also, wind or wings can symbolically mean airborne, hence flying; also *chariot=vehicle, horses=vehicle engine or thruster power, fire=speed, horsemen=drivers, pilots, and other applications, Keep in mind the context application can change the symbolic meaning].At the time of Elijah’s happening of ascension, there was a whirlwind touch (perpetual energy effect) of a different kind…..not forceful, not violent, just effective, that separated Elisha from Elijah.
Now before anyone gets too wrought up in their lower mental case over all this descriptive language, take a flight into your own eyes and ears and read and hear what the Bible has to say in some far out passages using descriptive language: horses fly (compare Zechariah 6:2-5 KJV – horses are called ‘spirits or ‘winds’); horses symbolically are genetically modified to be part-lion, part-serpent and to fly like locusts (compare Revelation 9:17-19 and Revelation 9:7 KJV); symbolic serpents talk (compare Genesis 3:1 KJV); symbolic donkeys talk (compare Numbers 22:28 and Numbers 22:30 KJV); a huge fish swallows a man and after holding him three days in its stomach of acid, vomits him out on dry land (compare Jonah 1:17 and Jonah 2:10 KJV); a raven feeds a prophet (compare 1 Kings 17:6 KJV); animals get group living intelligence and a major change of diet (compare Isaiah 11:6-9 KJV); et cetera. Any one who says there is not mythology, symbology, parables, and other far out and deep meanings in the Bible is missing out on the facts.
There is an interesting parallel to when Elijah ascended and Elisha proclaimed: “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof” (compare 2 Kings 2:9-12 KJV). Comparatively, when Elisha was dying, King Joash was by his bedside and proclaimed the exact same powerful statement: “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof” (2 Kings 13:14 KJV). If the experience of “there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire” (2 Kings 2:11 KJV) is the action that precipitated the above statement: “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof” (2 Kings 2:12 KJV), then it seems reasonable to conclude that King Joash actually saw a Zizith and its pilots landed outside the window and sick bed of Elisha. Even though Elisha was not to ascend as did Elijah, the Zizith agents came to salute Elisha for a job well done. Due to the double portion of Elijah anointing, Elisha was destined to stay until his bones could fulfill a “double portion” of resurrection power (2 Kings 13:21 KJV).
So then, in body ascent or in body transition the whirlwind touch is equal. For whether the whirlwind touch lifts you skyward as with Elijah or the whirlwind touch as a mighty rushing wind “fills all the house where you are sitting” (compare Acts 2:2 KJV paraphrased) as with Elisha [Elisha was no doubt sitting; otherwise he could not have placed his hands over the hands of Joash as Joash was holding a bow loaded with an arrow (2 Kings 13:15-16 KJV)]. John the Baptist, who came in the spirit of Elijah, also did not ascend bodily but transitioned and, nevertheless, appeared on the mount of transfiguration with Jesus and Moses (Matthew 17:1-3 KJV).
Ezekiel had a wonderful whirlwind experience (see Ezekiel 1:4 KJV) which revealed the work of the Cherubim and wheel Ophannim angels. The voice and workings of God don’t always come as a whirlwind experience; they may also come as “a small still voice” (1 Kings 19:12 KJV).
The soundtron word of God sometimes whirls like a whirlwind. Gird up your minds, I truly believe the Whirlwind Touch is coming. The Bible speaks of being “caught up in the air” (1 Thessalonians 4:17 KJV): The Father’s House looms; the city of God experience is coming. Are you getting ready? God bless you!
The Manifester
Oh God bring the whirlwind and touch us and heal us. Amen
